“The Life Touched with Cultures”, a Theme Activity of Beijing Culture Volunteers for the International Volunteer Day of 2012, was launched at the first cultural center of

  On 5 December, “The Life Touched with Cultures”, a Theme Activity of Beijing Culture Volunteers for the International Volunteer Day of 2012, as arranged by the Service Center of Beijing Culture Volunteers, was launched at the first cultural center of our District. The spirits of Being Culture Volunteers have been intensively established through diversified volunteer services such as performances, trainings, exhibitions and lectures by nearly a hundred of culture volunteers of 19 branches of the Center for Beijing Culture Volunteers.

  The display area of the culture volunteers, expert in handicraft, was put up at the display hall for “Intangible Cultural Heritage” by the Sub-center of Beijing Culture Volunteers. The traditional handicraft skills on the following items have been presented by the expert handicraft volunteers: Beijing dough figurines, lacquer carving, inner painting with tiny pots, Chinese knots, kites, paper-cuts, clay figurines, and bean carving, etc, which have drawn attention of many handicraft lovers, who, under the careful instructions of volunteers, have enjoyed producing vivid dough figurines, delicate paper-cuts and gorgeous Chinese knots. Meanwhile, the culture volunteers professional in dances at our District have delivered to the community residents with dance trainings. With keen services and first-rate dancing skills, the volunteers helped the dance lovers to master the said skills so that their praises to life could be offered with charming dances.

  The Dongcheng Service Center of Beijing Culture Volunteers was established in November 2011. At present, the said branch center has recruited more than 360 culture volunteers belonging to 9 different groups regarding handicrafts, instrumental music, vocal music, kites, recitation and folk arts. The followings have been offered in 2012: more than a hundred of volunteers, nearly 11310 cumulative service trips, and approximately 15690 service hours, etc, which have won positive comments and applauses from community residents, and thus, played a role to be commonly beneficial with culture.
