Music of Beijing Making an Appearance at the Garden Expo

  On July 13th, Zhi Hua Temple Music of Beijing, the national intangible cultural heritage of Dongcheng District, made an appearance as one of the activities of Dongcheng District Cultural Day at the 9th China (Beijing) International Garden Expo.
  Qing Dynasty Music and Dance, which marked the beginning of the performance, made viewers feel like being in the court. The 27th descendant of Zhi Hua Temple Music of Beijing and its lovers staged four typical pieces of Music of Beijing named Kaitan Bo, Qingjiang Yin, Jin Wushan, Xiao Huayan in the form of singing, percussion and instrument. The solemn yet lively music, together with the echoing of various musical instruments, which indulged viewers in the long-standing and ingenious Music of Beijing, won constant applause.
  Zhi Hua Temple Music of Beijing is regarded as the “living fossil of ancient Chinese music” for its keeping the style left by the music of Tang and Song Dynasties on the aspects of musical instrument, music score, music tone and the way of inheritance, and it was listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture in 2006 due to its precious historical and artistic value.
  The activities of Dongcheng District Cultural Day include four sections, such Dongcheng mass culture brand as weekend cross talk club brought wonderful performance to the viewers.
