In order to promote the low-carbon concept and in coordination with Beijing Energy Conservation Week and Low Carbon Day, Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform launched the theme event of “low-carbon activity into community” in five communities at the same time. Because of its advantages and characters, Min’an Community of Beixinqiao Neighborhood was selected as the main venue of the event. Experts at energy conservation and agriculture were invited to give lectures on water/electricity conservation and techniques for balcony plantation. An interaction with residents was well established through “100 Q&As on energy conservation and low carbon”. Besides, there were also display boards showing low-carbon and energy conservation knowledge & tips on site. Every participating resident was given a brochure called Beijing Citizens’ Code of Conduct on Green and Low-carbon Lifestyle, through which the concept of energy conservation and low carbon was injected into communities, namely the cells of the city.

By means of this event, the low-carbon concept was wide spread, the construction of Beijing low-carbon pilot communities was promoted, the theme of 2014 National Low Carbon Day—“achieving energy conservation and low carbon together, creating an environment with green water and blue sky jointly” was highlighted. What’s more, all parties have been mobilized in the event, creating a social atmosphere of energy conservation participated by all people.
