Ditan Park Ginkgo Festival Is to Open Soon

The autumn is the best season to admire ginkgo, most characteristic and magnificent scenery in Beijing. From October 23 to November 1, the Third Autumn Ginkgo Festival will be held in Ditan Park, and various activities themed with “Ginkgo to Convey Your Feelings in the Golden Ditan Park” are looking forward to your participation.

The Ginkgo Avenue in Ditan Park has always been the most enchanting scenery not to be missed in the autumn of Beijing. More than 200 ginkgo trees in the park, planted in the late 1950s, would be dressed in golden, and walking on the Ginkgo-leaves-paved avenue, with poetic scenery around is rather cozy. Autumn Ginkgo Festival is a brand event organized by the Ditan Park in recent years. The previous festival attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists to enjoy the beautiful autumn in the Park in only two weeks.

Such a beautiful place is not only a destination of a large number of visitors but also an attraction for photographers. This year, the management office of the Ditan Park works with takefoto.cn of Beijing Evening News and time-honored Beijing Wuyutai Tea Industry Co., Ltd to host a photography contest themed as “Love in Autumn”, requiring creations to be based on ginkgo and sceneries in the autumn and focus on the beautiful sceneries in the Park, so as to demonstrate the rich and colorful ginkgo culture.

In addition, other events such as an exhibition of excellent works from Ditan Park Ginkgo Festival Photography Contest, a ginkgo knowledge exhibition and lectures on healthcare in autumn and winter will be held at the same time. To be specific, the exhibition of excellent works from Ditan Park Ginkgo Festival Photography Contest will review the splendid moments of previous festivals through series of pictures; the ginkgo knowledge exhibition will publicize cultural history, ecological value and medicinal value (homology of medicine and food) of ginkgo in the form of display panels; the unique Yunnan Honghe ethnic culture exhibition and exchange activities will feature dance performances given by ethnic minorities from Yunnan, hand-embroidered costumes, tin handicraft made in Gejiu, and handmade silverware of the Hani.
