The First Batch of Family Archives in Dongcheng District Is Accepted by National Museum

On March 1, the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution held the ceremony of cultural relic donation of the “70th Anniversary of the Commemoration on the Establishment of Aviation Academy of Democratic Allied Forces of Northeast China”. Xu Ling, from the model household of the first batch of family archives in Dongcheng, donated her family records to the Military Museum. The archives includes her father Xu Jinghuang’s letters, manuscripts and certificates when he served at the Aviation Academy of Democratic Allied Forces of Northeast China and oil material department of air force between 1945 and 1987 and after his retirement, 285 items in six catalog in total with 28 pictures. These archives reflect the people’s air force development process from weakness to mightiness. The Military Museum hopes to refurbish the brightness of these archives through this way and regard them as social wealth since they are the witness to the history and the inheritance of diligent spirit. Since Dongcheng implemented “ten, hundred and thousand” project of family archiving in 2010, the archives bureau selected elites to walk into communities to widely promote the project, organize pilot activities, offer door-to-door guiding service, and making summary. 1,033 households received help in family archiving. This enriches national archives resources in a new perspective and obtains good outcomes both in social and cultural aspects. The establishment of social civilization and harmonious family is hugely promoted.
