Recently, Min’an community developed Green Min’an: Planting Green Vegetables on the Top Floor to Send to the Nursing Home. This activity is organized and carried out by environmental protection volunteers of Min’an community. They happily collected the pollution-free green vegetables planted on the terrace of top floor of nursing home and gave them to the elderly.
This kind of activity has been carried out for many years. The volunteers used the organic fertilizer which is generated from kitchen garbage and filtered rainwater from the community rainwater recycling system for these vegetables. During the whole process of planting, no chemical pesticides were used in order to keep these vegetables pollution-free. In the activity, green vegetables of more than 20 kilograms were sent to the elderly in the nursing home, including lettuce, fragrant-flowered garlic and cichorium endivia. These vegetables are very popular among old people, so they hope this kind of activity can be held every year.
