Gratuitous Treatment in Community Sends Love Home

  Recently, doctors from the Departments of Cardiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology and Endocrinology of the Beijing No.6 Hospital conducted gratuitous treatment for the residents in the health station of Xinzhongjie Community. This was the 284th community-based gratuitous treatment by the Beijing No.6 Hospital. The activity attracted more than 300 people for consultation, diagnosis and treatment, derating nearly 8000 RMB of examination fee for the residents.

  Three generations of doctors from the special departments carried out free measuring of blood pressure, blood sugar, electrocardiogram and other testing. According to the state of illness, they also performed free B ultrasound, CT and X-ray examinations. In the medication consultation area, pharmacists from the Pharmacy Department gave an account of common sense of safe medication and the identification of commonly used Chinese medicinal herbs. In addition, doctors from the Department of Neurology and Endocrinology set up two lectures on health and introduced the diagnosis and prevention of two chronic diseases of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The volunteers of the Party members and League members orderly guided the residents and gave out promotional materials on the spot. They also assisted people with reduced mobility to go through the whole course of medical service.

  Liu Siren, Vice President and expert of the Department of Cardiology of the Beijing No.6 Hospital said that with the implementation of the comprehensive reform of separating dispensing from prescribing, hospital should further promote community health activities, so as to conduct deeper integration and overall planning of gratuitous treatment in community, health education and chronic disease management. In the future, they will carry out the community health services with distinct themes once a month in 13 communities to promote the benign operation of "Two-way Referral" mechanism, effectively enhancing the residents' satisfaction and sense of gain.
