The Event of Drama into the Campus Comes to a Close

Recently, with the warm applause of students from Beijing No.65 Middle School, the event of Drama into the Campus which was jointly hosted by the China National Theatre for Children, Dongcheng District Culture Committee and Education Committee of Dongcheng District came to a perfect ending. Since April 13, Rubik's Cube of Idioms I and Aesop's Fables, two outstanding works by the China National Theatre for Children, were performed in the primary and middle schools in Dongcheng District and nearly ten thousand students enjoyed the wonderful performances by the national-level theatre at school.

Rubik's Cube of Idioms I is the first work of the series of Chinese Stories created by the China National Theatre for Children to inherit excellent traditional culture. The play is constituted by four idiom stories, namely Haste Makes Waste, Teach a Fish How to Swim, Tears That Brought Bamboo-shoots From the Frozen Earth and Pretend to Play the Yu. Stories are creatively interpreted with different artistic elements and styles of expression, conveying four kinds of wisdom of life to inspire the audience. Aesop's Fables, as a world's classic fairy tale, has accompanied many people in their childhood. Since its premiere in 2012, the China National Theatre for Children performed Aesop's Fables for more than 200 times, receiving praise from many young and old friends.

Chen Yiyi, a student in class three, grade one of Beijing No.65 Middle School, liked the dramatic experience of teaching going together with pleasure. She said, "Our school work is numerous and heavy. By watching the drama, I can remember clearly a lot of truths in the stories. I hope to have more opportunities to participate in this event in the future."

In order to give children a more three-dimensional drama experience, the China National Theatre for Children also invited students and teachers from Primary School Affiliated to Dongcheng Normal School and Guangqumen Middle School to go the theatre and experience a different kind of dramatic charm.
