Cultural Activities among the Youth in Government Organizations

In order to better focus on the central task and serve the overall interests, engage in and support the priority work of sub-district level institutions, lead and guide the youth to make contribution to their respective posts, the Dongcheng District Youth League Working Committee initiated "Exploring Beijing Hutong" cultural activities among the youth in government organizations on May 21. As a response to the plan for constructing Hutong museums at the sub-district level in Dongcheng District, the cultural activities are expected to last for a month.

Youth in government organizations were divided into 5 groups, according to different themes, including the revolutionary history, district history, architecture, temples, rivers and lakes. The youth were encouraged to find the history behind all kinds of cultural resources by searching for historical records in libraries and on the internet, field visits and interview in the Hutongs, etc., so as to provide basic data and resources for the construction of Hutong museums.

Such cultural activities aim at guiding the youth to actively participate in the exploration of Hutong culture and protection of Hutong. Exploring the profound history of Jingshan will help to increase the youth's understanding, resonance and sense of proud towards the history and traditional culture, and encourage them to contribute to the publicity, inheritance and protection of Jingshan culture, and form a new pattern for the Youth League to participate in social governance, with leadership by the Youth League, participation by the youth, through joint contribution and sharing. At the same time, Dongcheng District Youth League Working Committee also took this opportunity to call on the youth to take more responsibilities, more challenges and to strive for innovation and pressing ahead. In the future, we expect to see the Youth League play a more active role in carrying out the central tasks of the sub-district level and district level governments, as well as in the building of a "livable, harmonious, civilized and innovative" Jingshan.
