Micro Film Helps Innovate and Promote Intangible Culture

On June 9th, the day to commemorate culture and natural heritage, a micro film Hualuo Huakai (Flower Falls, Flower Blossoms) was officially shot at street of Dong Huashi, the cradle of Huar Jin (Jin the expert on making silk flower). Themed on Huar Jin, a national intangible culture, the film is jointly presented by Dongcheng District Literary Association, Donghuashi Working Committee Office and Dongcheng Film and Television Artists Association and produced by Beijing Hushi Culture& Media Co., Ltd.

Dong Huashi street community took the shooting of microfilm as an opportunity to effectively combine the film-making with on-site intangible heritage promotion. In order to coordinate the film shooting, Dong Huashi street community assisted in organizing the preparations for Bringing Intangible Cultural Heritage into the Community and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition on June 9th and 10th. During the event, 10 inheritors of intangible heritage either from or outside Dong Huashi community, including those on Beijing Silk Flower, Vitreous Grape, Beijing Glassware, Silk Figurine, Fine-Hair Bird, Northern-Style Bamboo Carving, Dough Figurine, Kite Making, Peking-Opera Mask and Paper Cutting, arrived at the scene to interact with figurants, local residents and students with their classic artistic works. Through the engagement with inheritors, many residents and work staff gained a better idea on intangible culture.

The microfilm is expected to be officially released at the end of July. It is believed that with the release of the film more people will be willing to approach to the intangible arts and understand intangible culture, and to promote, develop and inherit intangible cultural heritage in our modern society.
