Case Judgment in Juvenile Moot Court

  On July 26th, a juvenile moot court was launched in the community of the Seventh District of Hepingli Street. In the court, 10 teenagers respectively played the roles of judge, people's juror, clerk, public prosecutor, defender, defendant and bailiff to stage a case judgment.

  It is reported that the case judged on the moot court is based on a true case in which the defendant, Xiang Chao, and the victim, Fan Yu, collided each other due to some trivial matter. On January 13th, 2006, Xiang Chao stabbed Fan Yu twice on the left scapular rib outside the Second Vocational School of Xuanwu District, causing the victim die as a result of acute hemorrhagic shock.

  The students were very engaged in the "court hearing", and there was a wonderful debate between "the prosecutor" and "the defence counsel". At last, the defendant pleaded guilty sincerely. After more than 40 minutes of trial, "the defendant" was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment on the grounds of intentional assault. It is introduced that the entire trial process of the moot court was conducted in accordance with formal procedure, and the court layout was also in line with the real one. The chief judge, the judge, the defender and the bailiff were all dressed formally.

  The person in charge of the Seventh District said that the event was aimed at instructing the residents in the community to learn the law, understand the law, and abide by the law through this event which provided a close-up contact with the court.
