The First “Home of Migrant Workers”

  Recently, the first "home of migrant workers" from regions receiving counterpart assistance in Beijing was established in Dongcheng District. As an important measure of Dongcheng District to further promote its counterpart assistance, the home aims to build a platform for the two-way communication and exchanges between Dongcheng District and the functional departments of Chongli District in Zhangjiakou, Huade County in Ulanqab and Arxan, and migrant workers in Beijing. It will effectively ensure that the migrant workers in Beijing from the regions receiving counterpart assistance may obtain effective help and services, enable them to enjoy stable and secured employment in Beijing and prevent them from being impoverished upon returning home.

  Dongcheng District mainly provides three types of services for the migrant workers in Beijing from the regions receiving counterpart assistance. The first one is the employment agency service. Employment information is regularly released to migrant workers in Beijing. Targeted special recruiting fairs are provided to them. And, with high-quality post resources, more choices are offered for migrant workers who are temporarily unemployed or want career transitions, for them to improve the quality of their employment. The second one is the skills upgrading service. By make full use of the vocational skills training resources in the jurisdiction, the district organizes universal and progressive vocational skills training for migrant workers in Beijing and encourage the continuous improvement of their professional skills through training, so that they may maintain stable work and steadily raise income levels. The third one is labor rights protection service. The district publicizes the laws and regulations on human resources and social security among migrant workers in Beijing, offers special consultations according to their needs, and helps them enhance their awareness of self-protection, clarify the channels of litigation, and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests in social insurance, wage arrears, labor contracts, and work injury identification.
