“Winter Clothes Contribution” in Communities

Recently, the reporter learned from the District Civil Affairs Bureau that a one-month "Winter Clothes Contribution" is being carried out in Dongcheng District. The 17 sub-district offices in the district are all actively participating in it. At present, the event has gathered more than 9,000 pieces of clothes and other supplies in over 360 packages.

It is understood that this event is a themed social donation of the "Warm Sun" program jointly sponsored by Beijing Management Center on Accepting Disaster Relief Donations and the Beijing Charity Foundation. According to relevant person in charge of the District Civil Affairs Bureau, in response to the call of Beijing, from October this year, the sub-district offices across the district launched a one-month social donation event entitled "Winter Clothes Donation". The party members, the masses, and social organizations have donated money and supplies to show their cares.

According to reports, in this donation campaign, the 66 social donation sites and 8 charitable supermarkets in various streets and communities across the district are used as platforms to meet the public's wills to "have whatever donated by them accepted in the neighborhood". Through the distribution of brochures and put forwarding proposals, the sub-district offices and communities have advocated community residents to donate quilts, coats, down jackets, sweaters, long woolen underwear, sweat shirts and pants and other winter clothes. All donated materials will be transported by the Municipal Donation Center to Beijing Donation Classification and Processing Base on November 25.

The above-mentioned person in charge said that all the processed materials will be uniformly allocated according to the needs of Beijing' counterpart support, assistance and cooperation regions, and the needs of various districts. Various forms of assistance activities will be carried out to assist the city's people in difficulty or to support the poverty alleviation charity projects in counterpart support, assistance and coordination regions.
