The Tongzi River greenbelt reconstruction project of the Palace Museum was fully completed

The Tongzi River greenbelt reconstruction project, located in the U-shaped greenbelt between Tongzi River and the walls of the Forbidden City, from the Gate of Divine Prowess (Shenwu men) on the north to the Meridian Gate (Wu men) on the south, covered a total reconstruction area of over 15,000 m2 and is the largest-scale landscape improvement on the Tongzi River greenbelt in recent years. The project started at the end of July 2018 and has so far been completed. 117 trees and 622 shrubs were planted, the lawn area reached 15,000 m2, and auspicious cloud railings of 1,200 linear meters were installed.

The project retained the solemn and stately royal garden characteristics of the Palace Museum, combined them with the current conditions and landscape characteristics of the Tongzi River greenbelt, used simple and elegant design methods to reconstruct and improve the greenbelt, featured existing greenbelt plants as the basis in design, and divided landscape areas rationally by function. After the project was completed, the Tongzi River greenbelt landscape was burnished and now better shows the august and stately characteristics of a royal garden, providing tourists with a more comfortable environment for travel and sight-seeing.
