After the Forbidden City Art Museum, the Cultural and Creative Shop and Ice Cellar Restaurant will settle in Qianmen Sub-district within the year.

According to Xiang Xudong, Director of Dongcheng Cultural Promotion Center, since the strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Dongcheng District and the Palace Museum in February last year, cooperation projects of the two sides have executed in succession. Before the end of the year, the Forbidden City Art Museum, Cultural and Creative Shop and Ice Cellar Restaurant will open the door to welcome their guests.

Ice Cellar Restaurant will be on the main street of Qianmen Sub-district, covering an area of 1,700 square meters. It is the first time that it has walked out of the Forbidden City wall and into the business zone. According to the sources, the architecture of the Ice Cellar Restaurant will refer to the existing ice cellars of the Forbidden City. The meals are of Chinese and Western styles. If an appointment is made, you can also taste the Forbidden City customized roast duck. What’s more, the Ice Cellar Restaurant will also develop ice creams with the cultural characteristics of the Forbidden City according to the cultural connotation carried by the ice cellar. The packaging design is inspired by the Royal Iceware of the Qing Dynasty.

The Cultural and Creative Shop covers an area of 2,000 square meters, mainly focusing on cultural and creative products of the Palace Museum; after completion, the 8,000-square-meter Forbidden City Art museum will display ancient and modern artifacts.
