Song of “Luo Gu Xiang” with Beijing characteristics became a cultural name card for Dongcheng District in Shanghai

  From May 16 to 21, 2019, the 18th Star Awards finals and performances started in Shanghai, which was hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government. The original song "Luo Gu Xiang" of the Second Cultural Center of Dongcheng District, the only musical entry of Beijing, participated in the finals of the 18th Star Awards music works together with 21 entries from other provinces and cities.

  When General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Beijing, he went to Dongcheng District and went to Luoguxiang Lane, an old street with profound historical and cultural heritage. It is now developing under protection and bursting with vitality of the new era. Based on this, the Second Culture Center of Dongcheng District created the song "Luo Gu Xiang". In order to highlight the characteristics of Beijing and compete in Star Awards contest on behalf of Beijing, our center invited experts from various aspects, such as arrangement, choreography and stage design, to make elaborate arrangement of the performance "Luo Gu Xiang".

  On the stage of the 18th Star Awards finals, "Luo Gu Xiang", told the new story of the old Beijing Hutong, showing the old traditions and newness of Beijing-style culture with melodious Beijing-style rhyme, dancing, full-scale presentation with multimedia. The charm enabled the professional judges from all over the country and the audience to experience the new fashion of old Beijing.

  After participating in the finals competition, "Luo Gu Xiang" as a representative of the entries, went to the Shanghai Mass Art Center, Baoshan District, Beicai Town and other grass-roots sub-district communities, and stationed troops to perform condolence performances. Therefore, more community-level people could enjoy the final entries of the highest prize of mass culture.
