The 13th Ethnic Games were held in Nanli Community, Donghuashi Sub-district

  Nanli Community of Donghuashi Sub-district is proud to be a multi-ethnic community with 13 ethnic minorities, including Hui, Man, Meng, Zhuang, Miao, Bai, Yao, Tujia, Korean, etc. Recently, Nanli Community of Donghuashi Sub-district held the 13th Ethnic Games at Fuguiyuan Community Garden I, with the theme of "flourishing friendship between ethnic groups and prosperity shared by neighbors through mutual help". The event aims at building up the health of the public from various ethnic groups, enrich the cultural life in the community, and thus further promote ethnic unity in the community and harmony between the neighbors. More than 400 people were at the event, including Lei Xinlong, Director of Dongcheng Ethnic and Religious Affairs Office, Zhang Zhize, Deputy Secretary of the Working Committee of Donghuashi Sub-district, Yan Tao, Deputy Director of Donghuashi Sub-district Office, as well as representatives and deputies of Dongcheng People's Congress, CPPCC Dongcheng District Committee, enterprises jointly developed by the community, residents of all ethnic groups and on-the-job Party members.

  The Games were rich in activities this year, as indicated by the enthusiasm of the participants. Of the 12 competition categories, there were activities suitable for the elderly of all ethnic groups, inducing ball-racing, kicking shuttlecock, skipping, mung picking and target shooting on ground. There were also activities for the disabled, such as dartboarding and bowling, as well as those for young people, such as steeplechase and two-people-run-with-three-legs. Under the spirit of "safety and friendship come first", the residents of all ethnic groups demonstrated their unity, characteristics and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

  The Ethnic Games help to promote national integration, create a strong atmosphere of fitness by all, and set off a wave of community fitness for all. Residents of all ethnic groups said that the Games will enable more people to feel the joy of sports and health, and enhance the friendliness among the residents of the community. It also mobilizes the enthusiasm of the residents to take part in community activities, which will lay a solid foundation for concentrating the efforts to transform the community into a home of civilization and harmony.
