Mend the last mile of poverty alleviation through health projects with the launch of grassroots-level remote medical platform in Huade County

On January 1, 2019, a remote medical platform was established between Beijing Puren Hospital and Inner Mongolia Huade County Hospital. Based on such an effort, the 3-party remote medical platform, jointly supported by Beijing Puren Hospital, Inner Mongolia Huade County Hospital and Debaotu Town Hospital, was launched on July 1, 2019. The platform attributes its successful launch to the coordination among the health commissions, paired medical institutions of Dongcheng and Huade, as well as seconded backbone staff by Dongcheng to Huade. It signifies that the last mile of poverty alleviation through health projects supported by Dongcheng is officially mended.

The launch of the grassroots remote medical platform was attended by leaders and experts of Beijing Puren Hospital and Huade County Hospital, as well as physicians and affiliated village doctors of health clinic of Debaotu Town. After the launching ceremony, experts from Beijing Puren Hospital and Huade County Hospital organized a remote group consultation for two patients in Debaotu Town, one with high blood pressure and one with diabetes. Treatment recommendations were also given. The expert from the Department of Cardiology of Puren Hospital trained more than 30 physicians from Huade County and village doctors of Debaotu Town through the remote service platform on the topic of “Diagnosis and Treatment of High Blood Pressure”.

The internet-based grassroots remote medical platform will enable more grassroots physicians from Huade County to receive free but advanced medical education through the remote service platform. It effectively improves the local medical service level and the ability to serve the residents, and makes Huade residents enjoy the diagnosis and treatment provided by experts from Beijing and the county hospital. It mends the last mile of poverty alleviation through health projects on the issue of high expense and difficulty in seeking medical for Huade residents. In the meantime, Dongcheng Health Commission will promote this model based on the results we have made to make the remote medical platform cover more grassroots health clinics. Such efforts aim at enhancing the sense of gain for local medical personnel and the public through poverty alleviation based on health projects.
