The Working People's Cultural Palace used to be Tai Miao, the imperial ancestral temple of Ming and Qing Dynasties, and Key Cultural Relics Site under the Protection of the State. According to the ancient rules of the imperial capital "Ancestral Temple on the Left and Alter of land and Grain on the Right", it was built during the construction of the Imperial Palace and the Temple of Heaven, being an important part of the Forbidden City. As the best-reserved and biggest imperial ancestral architectural complex, Tai Miao is titled "the first temple in China". At the beginning of the founding of the People' Republic of China, Chinese government constructed this temple into "The Working People's Cultural Palace", privately tilled by Chairman Mao Zedong.
