Later, many revolutionary activities held by students of Peking University selected the square in the north of Hong Lou as their meeting place. In 1929 to 1920, Mao Zedong had once worked in the library of Hong Lou and Lu Xun had always had a rest in the room opposite to the stairs on the second floor in his profession days in Chinese Department. In 1953, the whole Peking University was moved to the west suburb and 31years later, in May,1984, "the Hong Lou Monument" was set up.
