Tanjia dish is the hereditary feast of bureaucrat Tan Zongjun in late Qing Dynasty. As Tan Zhongjun won the second prize (Bangyan) in the national

examination in the 2nd year of Tongzhi, so the dish is also called "Bangyan Dish". The dish has had approximately 100 years' history, which is the only famous feudal official dish preserved and solely managed by Beijing Restaurant. Tanjia dish is dainty, neither sweet nor salty and more attention is paid on the original taste and flavor; its taste is moderate and delicious and the

dish quality is soft, easy for digestion. The deliciousness of Tanjia dish enjoys the reputation at home and abroad. Nixon and the presidents and distinguished guests from many other countries all tasted this dish.
